PHIL HAWKINS PHOTOGRAPHY

Bio

My first gallery showing was at the age of 15 at the University of North Carolina. That same year I produced a documentary series on black poverty for NC Congresswoman Frances Dawson in Burlington, NC. At age 16, I covered racial unrest in North Carolina for The Chapel Hill Weekly newspaper. This coverage resulted in threats on my life, so I went to Hargrave Military Academy, in Chatham Virgina. There, I got into radio and spent 12 years as a DJ and 3 years as an NCAA women's basketball play-by-play color analyst. It was while working in Fresno I discovered Yosemite National Park, at which point I left radio. For the last 26 years I have dedicated myself to photographing Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.

Currently, I am doing feature news, portraiture, wedding, equine, sports and landscape fine art photography. I am available for free lance assignment and will travel anywhere.

I conduct photography workshops in Yosemite National Park, CA throughout the year. see http://yosemitephotoworkshops.com

I am also a Photoshop software training consultant for video2brain in Graz, Austria and Virtual Training Corporation in Richmond, VA.
